A few days ago the government of Pakistan decided to give ten days leave to fathers on the birth of their child.
The secretary of Human Rights Ministry Rabia Javeria Agha said that federal cabinet has decided to give ten days leave to fathers on the birth of a child. In her Twitter message Rabia Javeria said;
“Federal Cabinet approves National Commission on Status of Women Service Rules and for the first time in #Pakistan, #Paternity leave of 10 days is approved for employees of #ncsw. Thanks @ShazadAkbar @ShireenMazari1 @mohrpakistan” January 5
However, Federal Minister for Human Rights clarified the statement later that the 10 days leave will only be for the employees of National Commission on the States of Women. In her Twitter message she said :
“There seems to be some confusion over the 10 day Paternity leave issue: So far this leave has been included by MOHR in the Rules that have been devised for NCSW and approved by Cabinet. We would like to see scope of this rule adopted across the country – working on it.”
She also thinks of extending this rule to all the departments across the country.
